Hello and welcome to this series of three presentations on the relevance of videos in "Blended Learning".

In this first section, you will see the four uses of videos prior to an in-person training.

Note that just as the majority of content shared on Momindum TV, this video was recorded in "self-production" mode with a simple webcam. First, you can now create "teasers“ to announce the launch of a new training. For this, you create short, dynamic and impactful videos to arouse the interest and curiosity of your employees.

Just like a movie trailer, your teaser must motivate and encourage your employees to participate. This video is more of a communication or marketing tool and to make it as attractive as possible, you can ask an audio-visual specialist for help.

Thereafter, you can make it go viral. This will give your training high visibility and therefore enhance its impact.

You can find an example of a MOOC teaser on code-based cryptography through the link on your screen. It is also important to educate your employees on the topics to be covered in the training. Employees do not always see the concrete impact of trainings on their daily activities or they think they already understand the training information.

However, the content you offer is essential to their work performance.

With video, you have the possibility to educate effectively. According to a Forrester Research study, employees are 75% more likely to watch a video than read a document. This media is a great way to explain in a few minutes why a certain training session is essential for them. You can also add a quiz to remind them of how attending a session could increase their knowledge on a certain subject.

Now your employees will be well informed on the importance of attending training sessions and you will see an improvement in participation.

Just like MOOCs, you can make a video containing the detailed program and the main objectives of the training.

Future students will be able to quickly identify the key points. Thus, they go to the training with a concrete view of what they will learn, having more specific questions and effectively applying the information learned in the video to the in-person session..

This increases the impact of your training. Finally, it’s important to create a video sharing the training’s prerequisites. This gives learners all of the necessary information that they need to get the most out of the in-person training.

For example, in the case of an advanced training on the use of Excel, you can use a video to make sure that all participants already know the basics of this software like the use of simple formulas, sorting, filters, cell security and more.

This way, you standardize the knowledge level of your learners. So during the in-person training, you can go directly to more complex topics, making your training better and more complete.

If possible, make the video mandatory and add a quiz at the end to confirm understanding. Thus, only those who are successful in the quiz can participate in the in-person training. That brings us to the end of this presentation.

In the next presentation, you will see how videos can be an effective tool for in-person trainings.

    Thank you for watching.
